The system will be written to be run on a LAMP stack - Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. This is a standard setup for a computer using open source software, i.e. free for any institution to adopt, and all source code is publicly available.
For Phase 2 (Years 2 and 3 of the grant), SOCL will be hosted on grant-funded servers so that we can address technical support issues as quickly as possible. Partnering institutions sign a letter of support stating that after Phase 2 ends, pending success of the system, the institution will migrate the SOCL system to their own servers (Phase 3). The grant will also provide technical support for 1 year of Phase 3. See the Complete Timeline for more details.
